What we connect

Heating element, water heater and other flexible load. Shelly devices sit between the socket and whatever draws the power, or in the panel next to the heating element — and they can be switched and metered with the precision FCR-D requires. Today we can connect the Shelly Plus 1 and Plus 1PM, the Shelly Plus PM Mini, the Shelly Pro 3EM and the Shelly Plug S, Plug M Gen3 and Plus Plug.

Two ways to set up your Shelly

If you own a Shelly, you can connect it in two ways — whether you already had it or bought it elsewhere:

  • With your phone's Bluetooth: Open our web app on your phone and set the device up from there.
  • In the Shelly app: Give NM1 installer access to the device. You keep your own access and can use the app for your own automations as before.

If you buy Plug from us instead, it is set up in advance with our own communication. Then you need neither the Shelly app nor to share access.

    With your phone's Bluetooth in our web app — or by sharing access with NM1 in the Shelly app. Then the device is connected.

    It bids in every day

    We bid the flexibility into Energinet's daily auctions, and your share is paid out quarterly as an ordinary bank transfer.

Then buy a Shelly Plug S Gen3 or Plug M Gen3 wherever you like — that is completely fine, and often the easiest option for both of us. If you would rather skip the setup, you can buy Plug from us: a Shelly smart plug with wifi and configuration set up before it ships, so it is really easy.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything to enrol a Shelly I already own? +

No. If you own the device, there is no hardware cost to us. You enrol it and we connect it to the market.

Do I need to share access to my Shelly? +

Yes. If you own a Shelly, you give us installer access in the Shelly app, so we can configure it digitally. You keep your own access and can use the app as before. If you buy Plug from us instead, it is set up in advance, so you need neither the Shelly app nor to share access.

Which Shelly devices can be connected? +

We connect Shelly devices that control and meter heating and hot water. Sign up with the model you own and we will confirm whether your specific device can be connected.

Can I buy a Shelly that is already set up? +

Yes. Plug is a Shelly smart plug that we configure before it ships. You plug it in, connect wifi and sign up with NM1 — then it is on the market.

What happens to the device when it is activated? +

Activations are short, from seconds to minutes, and designed not to affect comfort or equipment. Your heating element or hot water tank briefly turns up or down while the water holds its heat.
