Electric radiator & fan heater · Buy online
Let the radiator you don't use earn money
Plug sits between your electric radiator or fan heater and the wall socket. It keeps the radiator switched off and only turns it on when the grid needs it — and you get a share of the payment.

You give us your wifi details when you sign up, and we set Plug up before it ships. Put it in the wall socket and plug the electric radiator or fan heater you do not use into Plug — and it is ready.

Plug keeps the radiator off. NM1 talks to the grid and only switches it on when the grid needs it — typically for 30 seconds to 3 minutes at a time.

Quarterly, to your bank account.

Your share is paid out quarterly as an ordinary bank transfer.
Best for radiators you don't use
Plug keeps the radiator switched off and only turns it on briefly when the grid needs it. That means it cannot hold a temperature in the room. It makes Plug a natural fit for the radiator standing unused in the summer house, a spare room or the basement — which can now earn money instead.
Need the heat after all?
Then switch the radiator on with the small button on the side of Plug or in the app. During that period we do not use it to help the grid, and because it is not available to us, your payout will be lower.

Is Plug right for you?
- You have an electric radiator or fan heater that you do not use for heating.
- It draws no more than 2.5 kW (10 A) and plugs into an ordinary Danish wall socket.
- There is stable wifi at the socket — typically 2.4 GHz.
- You are willing to give access to data from your electricity meter.
- Your home is in East Denmark (DK2). We only cover DK2 for now.
Two ways to get started
Plug is a Shelly smart plug — a Shelly Plug S Gen3 or Plug M Gen3. You can buy it from us, set up in advance, or buy it yourself wherever you like. Both work the same way.

We set up wifi and configuration before it ships. You plug it in — and it is ready. You need neither the Shelly app nor to share access with us.

Buy a Shelly Plug S Gen3 or Plug M Gen3 wherever you like. Set it up in our web app using your phone's Bluetooth — or share access to it with us in the Shelly app.
Buying it somewhere else is completely fine
If you buy from us, we set up wifi and configuration for you so it is really easy — that is what the price covers. We make our living providing flexibility to the grid, not selling hardware. So for us it is just as good if you buy it yourself.
What will I earn?
Your earnings depend on FCR-D prices, which are set at daily auctions, and on how much of the time the radiator is available. If you switch it on yourself, or the internet is down, you earn less. Try the earnings calculator.
Earnings depend on, among other things, market prices, Energinet's needs, regulation and your own consumption and equipment, and they can change over time. FCR-D prices are set in daily auctions. Historical earnings are no guarantee of future earnings.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Plug on the radiator I heat with?
Not if it needs to hold a temperature. Plug keeps the radiator switched off and only turns it on when the grid needs it. If you need the heat, you can switch the radiator on with the button on the side of Plug or in the app — but then it is not available to us during that period, and your payout will be lower.
Can I install Plug myself?
Yes. Plug arrives set up for your wifi. You put it in the socket between the wall and your electric radiator or fan heater. It needs no installer.
Why does Plug cost more than a Shelly in the shops?
Because we set up wifi and configuration before it ships, so it is ready when you plug it in. If you would rather set it up yourself, you can buy a Shelly Plug S Gen3 or Plug M Gen3 wherever you like and sign it up for free.
When will I get my first payout?
Once the device has been tested and approved — typically 2–3 months after you connect it. After that we pay out quarterly, straight to your bank account.
